Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 carrots, finely chopped
2 celery stalks, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 cup whole milk
1 cup dry white wine
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the ground beef and ground pork to the pot. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until browned, about 10 minutes.
Pour in the milk and simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated, about 10 minutes.
Add the white wine and simmer until mostly reduced, about 10 minutes.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Reduce heat to low and let simmer for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Just before serving, stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Garnish with fresh basil.
